LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) -- A tip from a witness helped the Polk County Sheriff's Office track down a suspect in the shooting death of a Lakeland teenager.
Sheriff Grady Judd says the arrest came 12 hours after the shooting that killed 19-year-old Juan Castillo and critically injured his 11-year-old brother Jake Castillo. Judd says the pair was targeted because Juan Castillo was wearing rival gang colors.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old Alejandro Baez-Garcia, who later confessed to the shooting.
Juan Castillo died at the scene. Police say his brother, Jake Castillo, was taken to a Tampa hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Officials say the shooting happened as a van drove past the victims' house. Five people were inside the van and more suspects are being sought.
