Duke TIP names Polk middle schoolers among best in nation

Polk County, Florida-- Polk County middle school students have been recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program, and are now being invited to take the incredibly intimidating SAT and ACT tests-- typically intended for high schoolers preping for college!

Polk County Public School officials sent out a detailed release about the honor, and even included a list of all qualifying middle schoolers:

Sixth Annual All-County Gala Concert and Dance Festival

Polk County, Florida-- The Davenport School of the Arts invites the public to attend its Sixth Annual All-County Gala Concert on Saturday, April 6.

Organizers say the event, "An Evening of Dance in Polk County", will begin at 7 p.m. in the school's Howe's Theatre, l, 4751 N CR 547, Davenport, FL 33837. 

Those in attendance can look forward to performances of varying dance genres by students from the following schools :

Lakeland, Florida-- The 2nd Annual Chalk for Charity Festival is happening in downtown Lakeland this Saturday!

Using chalk and liquid tempera as their medium and pavement as their canvas, professionals and novices will turn the streets of asphalt into an outdoor art display. The exhibitions will be located on Kentucky and Tennessee Avenues. 

The public will be able to purchase tokens to vote for their favorite art with prizes going to the entries receiving the most votes. Additionally, there will be a Professional Award presented.

Polk County Utilities Division Water Conservation Art Contest

Polk Co., FL-- Polk County Utilities Division announced their 2013 Water Conservation Art Contest for all Polk County students enrolled in both publi,c and private schools, in grades K-12.

Competitors are encouraged to create a poster depicting a water conservation idea.

Rosette ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each of the thirteen grade categories. All others receive participation ribbons. The blue ribbon winner in each category will be featured in the 2013 Water Conservation Calendar.
