Students named college-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners | Business
Polk County, Florida-- The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently named several Polk County Public Schools’ students College-sponsored Merit Scholarship Winners.
Some of this year’s senior winners included: Haines City IB’s Leah Spann, Haines City IB’s Jacob Renuart, Bartow IB’s Steffanie Munguia, Bartow IB’s Samuel Phen and Bartow IB’s Lindsey Ward
Below students are listed next to the institutions they plan to attend:
- Leah Spann- Vanderbilt University
- Jacob Renuart- University of Florida
- Steffanie Munguia- University of South Florida
- Samuel Phen- University of Florida
- Lindsey Ward- University of Texas at Dallas
College-sponsored awards are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at the sponsor institution and provide stipends that range between $500 and $2,000 per year.
College-sponsored Merit Scholarship award winners are selected by officials at each college, and the amount of the annual stipend is decided by the institution.
Finalists who have been accepted for admission and have listed the institutions as their first choice by the required deadlines are usually given the distinction.
