Man shoots at officer while fleeing from police | Crime

Lakeland, Florida -- A Lakeland man was arrested Tuesday night after a domestic violence incident turned into a police chase and the attempted shooting of an officer.
According to the Lakeland Police Department, officers arrived at a home in the 800 block of Massachusetts Avenue around 9:20 p.m. to help with a domestic dispute.
When police arrived, Sylvester Johnson, Jr. fled, armed with a handgun. When one of the officers, caught up with Johnson on N. Iowa Avenue, he turned and fired a shot at the officer from 20-30 feet away.
Johnson, 38, was eventually taken into custody and is being charged with Attempted First Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Police recovered a .45 caliber handgun used by Johnson.
No one was injured in the incident. No word on the domestic violence dispute and if charges will be filed.
