Polk County Sergeant arrested on 5 counts of Battery | Crime
Lakeland, Florida-- PCSO reported the arrest of 48-year-old PCSO Detention Sergeant Gary Montgomery of Lakeland on five counts of Battery.
Montgomery resigned immediately upon his arrest, but according to PCSO, he would have been terminated had he not resigned.
The affidavit explains that between the years 2010 and 2012, Montgomery inappropriately touched three female PCSO members who worked in the jail with him, over their clothing and without their permission. Montgomery hugged the women, and touched their breasts and buttocks in the process.
When detectives interviewed Montgomery, he admitted to touching one of the victims' breasts over her clothing, but denied touching any of the victims' buttocks.
He told detectives he hugged all three of the victims but said if he "accidentally touched them on the buttocks during the hugs he would not remember it," reported PSCO.
Montgomery was hired in July 1985 as a detention deputy, and was promoted to Sergeant in December 1993. His most recent assignment was as a supervisor in the South County Jail.
He has been released from the jail after posting the set bond of $500 per charge.
