Swan egg thieves at large, despite arrest | Crime

Lakeland, Florida -- Police in Lakeland believe there are still swan egg thieves out there, despite the arrest of a man earlier this month.

Authorities say Marcellino Rodriguez admitted to stealing at least two of the eggs. The eggs can sell for $150 to $200 each, but Rodriguez instead scrambled them up to eat.

But about 20 more eggs had been stolen from nests along the Lake Morton/Lake Mirror area between May 1 and May 2nd, and police say the suspects behind those eggnappings are still at large.

Lakeland's symbol is a swan, and there are about 60 of the birds living along area lakes.

Police ask that if you have information on the egg thefts, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.
