Treasure hunt fun comes to Circle B Bar Reserve

Treasure hunt fun comes to Circle B Bar Reserve

Bartow, FL -- Ranger Rick’s Geocache Trail at Circle B Bar Reserve now offers Polk County families a free, high-tech, wildlife theme adventure featuring Ranger Rick and his pals from the award-winning children’s magazine published by the National Wildlife Federation (NWF).

It combines GPS-enabled technology with a real-life outdoor treasure hunt designed for families, especially those with kids ages 6 to 14.

“The Polk County Environmental Lands Program is happy we can provide this unique outdoor adventure to families in our community,” Tabitha Biehl-Gabbard, stewardship coordinator for the Environmental Lands Program said in a release. “Our Ranger Rick’s Trail not only makes treasure hunting fun and exciting by incorporating technology that kids love, but connects families to nature along the way.”

Here’s how it works:

Floral Avenue Elementary art exhibit at Historical Museum goes until August 31

The art of fourth and fifth grade students at Bartow’s Floral Avenue Elementary is on display at the Polk County Historical Museum until August 31.

The theme of their art posters is livable communities. The livable communities concept involves liveable downtown areas with streets designed for pedestrians as much as automobiles. Livable communities include a development pattern that allows residents to meet everyday needs by walking.

The students’ art pieces show many landmarks of downtown Bartow with downtown patrons walking through its streets.  The Floral Avenue Elementary  livable communities art project was coordinated by Floral Avenue fourth grade teacher Virginia L. Smith.
