Mail carriers collect food for Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!

Carrollwood, Florida - Mail carriers will take part in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Residents can leave non-perishable food item by their mailbox and the letter carrier will pick it up. The food will be donated to food banks to distribute to needy citizens.

Last year, over 70-million pounds of food was donated across the country.

If you cannot leave food items by your mailbox, you can drop it by your local post office.

Pasco County, Florida -- Pasco County Animal Services will be hosting free adoptions for all Mothers from May 8th through May 18th.  Adoptable dogs and cats will be FREE to moms in celebration of Mother’s Day. There will be a $10 fee for a Pasco County dog license.

On May 4, 2013, Catholic Charities of Central Florida will host the 8th Annual Kentucky Derby Day at Santa Fe Catholic High School.

Tennis for Tumors is dedicated to support advanced technology through research grants and raise community awareness of childhood brain tumors.

Tennis for Tumors' primary fundraiser is a tennis tournament held each year at the Beerman Family Tennis Complex. Please join us as we raise money for more tumor research and the Brittany Truitt Scholarship.

The Beerman Fmaily Tennis Complex is located at 1000 East Edgewood Drive, Lakeland.

Earth Day celebration continues at Bok Gardens this week

Polk County, Florida -- Folks from Bartow and all over the region can keep the Earth Day spirit going this week at nearby Bok Gardens.

Students are invited to participate in hands-on activities by environmental exhibitors from around Central Florida and learn about protecting wildlife, water conservation, gardening and more.

It's happening this Thursday, May 2nd at nearby Bok Gardens from 9 a.m. until Noon.

Lakeland, FL - On Friday, April 19th, there will be a Free Green Celebration in honor of Earth Day with a concert & showcase at the Lake Mirror Promenade from 6 - 9:30 p.m.

There will be live music from the Sofa Kings along with a variety of exhibits promoting green living initiatives.
