LAKELAND, Florida -- A Lakeland police officer has been charged with battery after authorities say he got into a road rage fight while off-duty.
The incident was caught on video. Police say Officer Jerry Monroe was driving with his son when another driver cut him off. That driver, Andy Jones, then pulled into a parking lot, and that's when police say Monroe pushed him and the two started to struggle.
Monroe body slams Jones onto the concrete in the video. Then, according to witnesses and the police report, he repeatedly punched Jones while he was on the ground.
