Lakeland, Florida -- Students arrived at Lakeland High School this morning to find increased security on their campus following a threat regarding a possible fight during dismissal.
Students are on early dismissal today and are scheduled to get out of class at noon.
Fred Murphy, assistant superintendent, tells 10 News a recorded message went out to parents last night informing them of the threat and giving parents the option to determine whether to send their child to class today.

It is exam week at the school.
Students who do not attend school today will have the opportunity to make up their exams, Murphy said.
Lakeland Police received information on Thursday that a group of people were planning to come on campus during dismissal to start a few fights in an effort to disrupt dismissal.
The threat did not include the use of weapons, Murphy said.
Lakeland Police sent several officers to the school this morning and the school district also has several additional staff in place to ward off any disruption.
Murphy says he does not believe anything will happen today because of media coverage and increased security.
