LAKELAND, Florida (AP) - Two key administrators at the beleaguered University of South Florida campus in Lakeland have resigned.
More Info: Financial violations, fear at USF Polytechnic
The resignations Thursday of Samantha Lane, director of marketing and communications, and Maggie M. Mariucci, director of development and government, follow an internal review that found mismanagement and fear among employees at what soon will become the state's 12th university.
The Ledger of Lakeland reports that both women cited the "toxic" work environment.
The internal investigation released Thursday said several employees knowingly violated USF policies and statutes. It also found a pattern of job losses and reassignments when employees refused to follow the directives of former Regional Chancellor Marshall Goodman.
As the state's newest university, it will be known as Florida Polytechnic University.
