7th positive Rabies case confirmed in Polk County
Polk County, Florida-- The Polk County Sheriff's Animal Control Section confirmed the seventh positive Rabies case in Polk County for 2012 on Friday, August 31.
On Tuesday, August 28, PCSO Animal Control Officers responded to a call regarding the discovery of a bat inside a Tenoroc High School bathroom.
The officers reportedly impounded the bat and sent it for rabies testing. The results from the State Laboratory came back positive today.
The Polk County Health Department says they will notify anyone who may have been exposed to the bat.
