LAKELAND, Florida -- Polk County Sheriff's detectives are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that happened at the Lakeland Farmers Market on Saturday.

According to detectives, two black male suspects approached the victim's coin and gun booth at the market and said they wanted to buy a gun. The victim reportedly said no.

A few minutes later, the suspects returned to the booth with four more men. One suspect armed with a hammer allegedly smashed the glass case that the guns were kept in, while another suspect shot the victim in the stomach.

The suspects reportedly then fled to a field at the northwest corner of the Farmers Market.

The victim was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center and is expected to recover.
