Polk County, Florida-- Commuters who failed to buckle-up between March 1 and March 16 were likely ticketed accordingly, as Polk Sheriff's deputies participated in the nationwide "Click it or Ticket" initiative. 

Polk County Sheriff's Office records show seat belt citations issued during that time exceeded 300, and speeding citations issued took a close second with 295.

While patrolling for those who failed to "click it", deputies also found others in violation of various laws.

Lakeland, Florida - Routine maintenance work and equipment upgrades at various toll plazas will require lane closures and shifts, and suspension of tolls along Polk Parkway next week.

That's according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

Daytime closures begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m., or until the work in each lane is complete. Nighttime work hours are 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. If tolls are suspended, motorists should proceed with caution through a designated open lane.

Lakeland, Florida - Beginning Monday, Feb. 11, Spivey Road will be closed to thru-traffic at the intersection with Kathleen Road for two weeks.

During closure, traffic on Spivey Road will be detoured at N. Galloway Road and Shadyglen Drive. Traffic can access Spivey Road from Kathleen Road by turning east onto Rollinglen Loop West and proceeding to Shadyglen Drive, then north to Spivey Road.

Residential access will be maintained at all times.
